Yo!....I feel you on that...I have worked with many artists who give themselves a time limit to get on, like"If I aint signed by the time I'm 26 man i'm quittin"....Listen that's a cop out.....Doctors,pharmacists, lawyers, mad professionals have to go to school for close to 10 years before they are certified and then their fields are upgrading so much thru out the years that they have to constantly return to school to keep up with the game....Hip Hop is so universal that there are areas in THIS COUNTRY that haven't beeen discovered yet as far as new talent....As for thaVillain!, he aint quittin til they put me in my walker and feed me mush in the nursing home.....I've dedicated so much time to this,to learning and living all aspects of the culture, that I feel, if I quit now I will be treating this art form as if it's nothing more than a fad, like our folks used to tell us all through the years....."it'll never last".....This is a career a profesion that we are involved in....No one put an age limit on James Brown, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Barry White, Gerald Levert.......But when all these folks start talking retirement it pisses me off.....Okay retire if you have nothing else to say........but as long as you live you will live thru and see things that will change your life and your viewpoint on the world and you are gonna want to share that with somebody.....Got to share that with somebody.....because the game is so screwed up now, not many older heads are around to pass any of that old knowledge down to this new school of spitters....plus a lot of this crap is INDUSTRY pollution,......they are the ones relegating the experienced spitter to the retirement home...I aint goin.....Look at how Nas brought back a lot of the true schoolers on "Where Are They Now?"....and they held US DOWN!!!>...all of them are even older than us!!!!......Hold your ground sister and keep making them bangers...I aint quittin no TIME SOON...and I got you by 2 years!!;....LOL!!
I challenge anyone with the ability or the means on this site to help us 27+yr old mcees put together proof in pudding that we got pure heat still...and it has become refined and rings clearly with the truth...Man I'm done talkin...let's do the damn thang!!!!

dont matter how old you are.if you rhyme about what you know and you love what you do,why not?
the only thing i would say is that as a 32 year old you cant rhyme as a 21 year old would.
jay z is a good example of a mature rapper.

Whoa!...Shouts out to LadyC33 for this topic..Its feels good to hear people talk about this..as a matter of fact, myself and my boys talk about this all the time. Myself being 37, feel like thats one of the lamest statements one could make. For some unknown reason we think hip-hop is a "kids music", its the only genre of music, that people will not let "grow up". Every other genre of music, has fans that grow with the music. The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, and even Barbara Streisand, have thousands some millions of fans, that are not 19, or 20,. Their fans have gray hair, and are looking forward to social security and retirement. So i guess they believe that once you turn 30, you shouldn't even be LISTENING to hip-hop, let alone rapping. But to all the naysayers out there, HIP-HOP HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO GROW UP. That means there will be 70 and 80 yr olds, listening to hip-hop, poppin, reminiscing over the "good ole days", when L.L. came out the radio, and still rapping, GET OVER IT, you cannot not stop the inevitable, so lady keep flowin, who knows you might catch a deal when you are 50!!
