my name is andy shaw.Im a 32 year old male from england.I grew up on hip hop from the age of 10 listening to flash, run dmc, seeing movies like wildstyle and beatstreet.
for me the best period was from 86 till 94 in hip hop.
im not a hip hop snob so i wont down 50 cent just because its 50 cent.
hip hop aint dead, youve just gotta know where to look.
What's up world??....I'm 34 years old from Arkansas...(where is dat????!!!). My love affair with Hip Hop started when I was a young young buck..but on the low because moms and pops wasn't with all that "bumpity bump music".....(even tho my pops did cop the Newcleus "Jam On It" single instrumental...hip dude ...my pops). But as Rap music grew and more social angst got intertwined into the medium, they were really against it...you know the foul words, the explicit lyrics.....can't be havin' that but, bein a rebellious flower in the attic Ute......I ATE IT UP....Cats at school would sneak me tapes they made off the radio...I learned Salt and Pepa lyrics, NWA, Too Short, Big Daddy Kane...You know how it is if you are a kid stuck in a household that doesn't use Curse words...then you hear them on a record?!?!?!?....That's the coolest shit ever right!!!!....Plus I was known as the kid around school that could recite the lyrics to "Funky Enough" by D.O.C. and sound just like him.....blew the seniors away with that one!!...LOL.....
I really started to learn the distinctions between coasts later on, and, being from the South, really fell in love with the Geto Boyz and Scarface (hey T.I.....that';s the King of the South pahtnah!!)... My erratic pre-adult lifestyle saw me make a move to New York for a short time and I then really saw what Black Moon, Smiff and Wesson, Wu-Tang Clan, NAS, A Tribe Called Quest, etc....were seeing and portraying to me in their music...and it was so real>>>>
Needless to say currently I'm back home wih my shorties...married a lady from C.I.....(Hey Busta I got me a New York Chick!!!!)Got the "hustle and Flow" studio in the back and I'm still livin the dream of maybe making it as an artist in the game...even tho the game aint the same as it used to be....The industry got Hip hop by the ballz fam...and I'm mad about it.......
Remember back in the day when wack MCEES/no, rappers, couldn't even drop certain singles and not get dissed by the massive???...Now everybody is so afraid of being blackballed or not promoted the way they need to be to get their paper.....And to top it all off....HIP HOP which has been under attack since those long ago dayz...has just been under a barrage from the media.....I got on my hardhat fam.........I got a bird for Oprah, Bill O'Reilly, Cosby...whoever got something to say about the genre and really don't have the slightest idea of where we come from...the music comes from, the ANGER comes from, the topics that are discussed...anything....They shitted on Luda, tried to ban NAS(of all mcees), sued 2Live Crew (that was funny)...killed Pac.....(something aint' right there).....well I hope they arent tryin to replace us all with Vanilla Ice's because it's not goin down....The world is not perfect enough for us to be that soft...The Struggle continues fam.....as long as we're in it and forced to try and survive and bring our kids up amidst this chaos that has NOT BEEN ENGINEERED BY US. ....hip hop is going to have a grimey side......Point Blank..
Oh yeah...shouts to folk like Eric Michael Dyson, Spike Lee, my dude Cornell West for holding us down....and the Spoken word poets...the one's that don't feel like they're better than us "rappers".....u know I'm no good" Amy Winehouse style.........Holla atcha boy...I'm workin on my first solo joint......I'mma post a few trax on the page.....for public opinion before I make my final decisions.....get at me and lemme know what you thnk...

R3d all I can say is as long as there is light inside of you it is your duty as a child of the most high to spread that light. Never let these close minded corporate / commercial devils and their minions quantify you or qualify you. You are truly infinite in mind and spirit so don't doubt your self ever! As a man / woman thinks, so you will be.
