Listen...I know imma get blasted for this shit but....
First of all...nuff respect to Krs.....I been a fan since who knows when...but for you to tote the title of "Teacher".....I think you'd better be teachin the proper gospel
Yeah...50 cent is hip hop....in the hip hop industry!
See...I don't get it
50 CONSTANTLY BLASTS that materialistic bullshit that most of these industry heads and spitters tout....to make those album sales...
His topics dont cover much more than women, cars, money, and buckin' just ta be buckin'....
The cats he is subconsciously dissin'...ie "THE SOUTHERN RAPPER...are covering the same topics in the same freakin way......C'mon man...do we gotta buy the kid some glasses or what!
Second of all...saying that Kanye's beats are like mere technical elementary 2+2=4 shit and not innovative science is a bad choice of words...
The way I see it.....Kanye's production style takes it back to the days when Pete Rock and cats of his genre were bringing up the whole old school soul records out of Mom's attic and looping that fly shit to a beat....He resurrected that shit to perfection......I'm not a Kanye fan...... but I have to respect what he did with the beats fam........Lyrical content actually sounds pretty solid too...I'm just not a fan of his flow.....
I don't know where the Teacher was going with his comments but I think his comments are going to lead to him losing more and more fans......simply because he tends to lean on cats with only a certain amount of pull in the game...If you wanna dis....Dis them both.....I'm sorry GOD...but I can't ride with the Teacher on this one

KANYE'S BEATS CAN BE SICK BUT I JUST CANT GET HIS ELEMENTARY RHYMIN.
50 IS WACK WACK WACK AND BRINGS NOTHING TO THE GAME.

IS KRS SAYING THIS TO BE CONTRAVERSAL BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE IS DICKRIDIN' KANYE?
OR IS HE JUST BEING KRS 1..... A MAN OF MANY CONTRADICTIONS?
WHATEVER,HE'S STILL #1!!!!

Ok, no one bite my head off PLEASE, I'm just a little asiatic princess livin' in my corner of this world, lol, now that I put my guard up... here's my opinion on KRS-1's spoken words.

I personally don't think KRS-1 "likes" either 50 or Kanye. Maybe he is speaking on a ultimatum preference if given to him. Maybe he's just saying that 50's music style is more original in the way he makes it from his "head and heart" as opposed to Kanye using more of an opinionated guessing game as to what the population wants, therefore using more of the commercial route of getting his musical message across. KRS-1 is more of an original, down to basics hip hop soul, so it's like, if he were to have to make a choice between the two performers, he would more than likely go towards 50's side of the fence, for being "as true as he can be" to the business by bringing it from his heart to the fans, instead of his opinion of what the fans want, which is what most of us ( I think) feel Kanye is contributing to this societal music industry.

Yikes.... Don't hate me Y'all. KRS-1 #1 Yes Yes Y'all... : )

50 is such a waste of space ... ive loved KRS right from the beginning but you know Ive seen another side too... and ive been holding this secret back for years... I used to be part of Dedbeat weekender as a promoter and resident DJ. We booked KRS as the headline act .. we explained the nature of the weekender ... no sponsorship what so ever.... i.e no Coca Cola signs or Playstation advertising all over the stage ... MUSIC ONLY and the true essence of HIP HOP. All monies made by the tickets sold cover the acts and give us a tiny little profit. KRS after keeping us waiting weeks on end agreed to the gig and said as long as he travels first class he would do the show. As soon as he said yes the flyers and advertising went to print ..a few weeks late I might ad.
Dedbeat forked out a huge chunk of the funds and bought the 1st class plane tickets.. then we hear from KRS's management that he has no longer confirmed and is having second thoughts.. after countless phone calls over the weeks leading up to the event and being kept in the dark KRS said he will only do the gig if we got him tickets to travel over on the QE2 (Thousands of pounds). We 'Dedbeat' refused to spend further money after wasting loads on the plane tickets & we reminded KRS's management that Dedbeat is not about money or the bling thing .. we were there for music only and the true essence of Hip Hop.. The management reply by saying "it looks like Chris has given you the right hook" ... We had to deal with a few pissed off punters that weekend but then again we did have some other great acts .. Brand Nubian, Gwen McCrae, Biz Markie etc .. he lost out too.. aside from all this I still love KRS as an artist.

yo prone, do you remember the infamous krs 1 v tim westwood argument on tims radio show?
i remember tim saying something along the lines of "you claim to be a man of the people, but you wouldnt come on the show unless we put you on the QE2".
like i said, a man of many contradictions.

Now see.....this is what I'm talkin about!!!....KRS has made some timeless music over the years...but....that attitude is totally timeless too...in that we aint gonna forget the negative vibe he's given a lotta cats over the years....MY vote's in the pot......Mr. Hip Hop Contradiction has won the belt!!..LOL
NAS didnt even run a close second!!!

Hey Andy ... thats true .. that was a good argument ... i forgot about Timkins line there .. heh heh ... well regardless I still love KRS ... i wouldnt do business with him though ... i took my promoters hat off a few years ago so theres no going back... as for 50 ... some good arguments in his support but I guess its down to personal taste... personally I don't think he has a good flow & the beats are a little too digital for me... and Kanye ... hmm hes like a 'Common' for people that don't like 'Common' (...I'm a big Common fan by the way.). Like for example ..Andrew Lloyd Webber has the ability to make Rock muisc for people that don't like Rock & Classical music for those that don't like classical... I thinks hes too bold when expecting to win all these awards and the beats well they are too floppy for my liking ...that tune where he basicaly took the whole of Curtis Mayfield - Move on up wasnt really a creative move... its over sampled and I dont think he did any justice to it ....Kanyes spittting anoys me.... still better that a lot of the Sh*t Hop that clogs up the fm dial.

Yeah I think Kanye would get much more credit as a producer if he would stick to producing and put down the MIC!!!

Okay I feel KRS One... and here is why... first of all KRS One's upbringing is closer to 50's than Kanye's so even if KRS has "evolved" spiritually, mentally to where he is now, he can still relate to a young brotha who came up from nothing with a "Criminal Mind". I am sure KRS respects Kanye for what he does but at the end of the day KRS is an advocate of that "Boom Bap". Kanye's music is very musical but his production style tends to lean more toward PM Dawn's "Set a drift on memory bliss" soft beats over hot samples. Hip Hop has always been about taking what you have with is usually very little to nothing and putting our own twist and style to it and taking it to the top. This is exactly what 50 did! He started with nothing and took it to the top of the sky. KRS one and 50 both entered the game the same way... taking out the hottest niggas at the time. With KRS it was the juice crew and any one affiliated with them, with 50 it was Murder Inc and any one affiliated with them. 50's rhyme content is a reflection of what he came out of which is south side queens, he is hasn't swayed too far away from what he was about from the getty up. I personally feel I am a pretty thorough Hip Hop historian but I don't feel as if i have the authority to say that a kid who grew up from the mid 70's to now in the middle of one of NYC's illest hoods "The same as RUN DMC" and is nothing but a reflection of what he experienced during that period is not "Hip Hop". 50 is about as Hip Hop as it gets. He isn't the rapper that we used to watch flip metaphors and vocabulary (all though that how to rob rob joint was pretty witty and funny as hell) he is the kid who was in the crowd at the tunnel or the roof top watching that rapper. He is the kid who the rappers rapped about... "Stick up kids are out to jack". He is the kid who KRS one was trying to reach when he put together "Self Destruction". He is the kid who might knock you out for stepping on his brand new all white air force ones. Are we really surprised that KRS is dissing Kanye and his feminine mannerisms, obsession with clothes, murses (male purses), etc.. ? If this was 1989 KRS might of just said fuck it and threw him off the stage. Lets not forget the first Rapper on Rapper violence was KRS ONE throwing PM Dawn off the stage, he introduced physical violence to Hip Hop. So even if KRS One is now known as the teacher the inner "thug" in him still relates to that gangsta mc who is not afraid to let his nine millimeter go "BANG"!

Oh yeah and if you think 50's album is wack play it in a suv with a booming system while riding out to the club and then tell me his shit is wack...

Don...I feel your statements here........I just don't know if throwin PM Dawn off stage was a mvoe for hip hop......My reasoning...wait, my reasoning.........*lookin for the rope*LOL
See PM Dawn actually came across to me as a group who did it for the music......I could be wrong and I could have missed a statement or a beef somewhere down the line but.....what they put together on Memory's Bliss was something, I know I HAD never heard before.....To me it was just another version of a spoken word poet...when I think back on it...I think they got tossed off the stage not for Hip HOp but for KRS........I dont know...And if that's the case...there is a freakin STABLE of CATS that need to be tossed not only offf the stage and the mic but...out of the game period.......where is the bouncer when you need him???? As far as 50's new album.....I listened to it....I didn't hear anything that really caught my attention....I'm not feeling it....Kanye I already said it but imma reiterate...is NOT MY FAVORITE ARTIST...but musicwise I gotta give to him......(or his team of connects form what I hear)......I just can't totally agree....(strappin on my 50 brand Bullet Proof Vest for the response on this one)

Wow nice...to see all the dialogue!!..Im gonna piggyback on what Angel said, also read another article interviewing KRS and they aksed him who was better 50 or Kanye?..And his response was that he understands where 50 comes from because thats what he relates to. I think its more of a personal preference. Im a true supporter of KRS, but we all have opinions and MY opinion is gonna be different, from his. Opinions are not always the truth..remember this. So in essence, i just like Kan, because right now...the industry needs him. If 50 was doing his thing back in the day. He wouldnt have stood a chance.
