For the 6th year, VH-1 has brought has The 2009 Hip Hop Honors awards. The show was a tribute to the architects of hip hop the legendary label Def Jam. Russell Simmons, Rick Rubin, Lyor Cohen, and Kevin Liles were honored by some of the biggest names in hip-hop. As usual host Tracy Morgan kept us in stitches with his hip-hop commentary by Scoopy Giles

. The show hit high points with crowd rocking performances by Public Enemy with help from The Roots, The Streetsweeper Social Club, and D.J. Jazzy Jeff. Def Jam veterans Method Man and Redman went in with "Da Rockwilder", and Mary J. Blige capped off the set with Method Man blessing us with "All I Need". Onyx came through and drove the crowd wild with "Slam" and Ludacris, Scarface, and Rick Ross repped for the "dirty south". Eminem took us back with Black Thought for "Rock the Bells. KRS-One, showed why he is one of the best ever, while taking the stage with Wale and the Gym Class Heroes.

EPMD took us back to Brentwood L.I, while DMX let everybody know he is still a force to be reckoned with. The finale was capped off by Ghostface, Foxy Brown, Kid Rock, and Fabolous. There were artist that were noticeably missing such as, L.L. Cool J., The Beastie Boys, and Slick Rick. But the high points had to be the commentary provided by Rick, Russell, and the quote of the night was given by Lyor Cohen. WE DO IT FOR THE LOGO!!!!...Nuff Said
